1 LTE Networks can transmit absolute GPS Time using OTA Messages (SIB8 and/or SIB16)
And here is more information about LTE SIB8 and SIB16 from time information point of view.
LTE SIB8:
• Mandatory for all 3GPP2 Networks and is widely deployed in 3GPP2 Networks.
• Has time and other base station related information required to support 1x CSFB.
• Always accurate and reliable because otherwise it will affect 1x CSFB functionality.
LTE SIB16:
• Optional for both 3GPP and 3GPP2 NWs and is not deployed in most networks.
• Has only GNSS and UTC time information.
• Could be incorrect because of wrong provisioning but will not affect any LTE functionality and hence may be undetected.
LTE SW in Qualcomm modems can transfer LTE SIB8/16 time to GNSS engine for faster GNSS time to fix.
This process is called as LTE Time transfer (TTr).
From GPS perspective, we receives time info. from network, and 8917+wtr2965 support SIB8 and SIB16 GPS time sync.
