Canonical公司宣布, Ubuntu 11.10（代号Oneric Ocelot）将于10月份正式发布。Ubuntu 11.10将包含VMware公司的开源云计算环境Cloud Foundry。Cloud Foundry已于今年4月份发布，提供Platform-as-a-Service云服务。目前，Cloud Foundry已支持Spring、Grails、Rails、Sinatra、Node.js 及 Scala 等各种应用。
Platform-as-a-Service （PaaS，平台即服务） 与Infrastructure-as-a-Service （IaaS，基础设施即服务）是云计算的两种应用模式。PaaS云为运行各种应用提供了适配环境，而IasS云则为运行各种操作系统与应用程序提供虚拟机支持。
Ubuntu 11.10集成了Cloud Foundry的VMC Client与VMC Server两个软件包。VMC Client主要用于应用程序的部署与管理，而VMC Server则主要为PaaS云配置服务器节点。
